Balikpapan, 22 July 2024 - Archipelago International, the largest hotel operator in Southeast Asia, continues its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts through the Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative (ACCI) in East Kalimantan.
This initiative, in collaboration with several of its network hotels, including Aston Samarinda, Quest Hotel Balikpapan, and Hotel Neo Balikpapan, aims to support children battling cancer.
This CSR event marks the third ACCI activity this year, following successful events in Banjarmasin and Surabaya. This initiative event at 20 July 2024 underscores Archipelago International’s and its affiliated hotels' unwavering commitment to aiding and supporting cancer patients, particularly children. This time, the focus was on Rumah Singgah Kanker Anak which located in Jl. Indrakila No. 53 Balikpapan is a shelter for cancer patients, which welcomed representatives from the management and hotel teams of Archipelago International in East Kalimantan.
The hotels under Archipelago International also organized fundraising activities as part of the event series. These activities included a Weekend Charity at Samarinda Central Plaza Mall, where Aston Samarinda's management and staff hosted a food and beverage bazaar, a Preloved Sale, and a community gathering.
Other fundraising events took place at Grand City, Lapangan Merdeka, and Gedung Parkir Klandasan Balikpapan, with Quest Hotel Balikpapan featuring a live cooking stand serving "roti pisang banjar." Additionally, Hotel Neo Balikpapan organized a food and beverage bazaar during the Bhayangkara Anniversary event at Grand City. Each hotel also hosted fundraising activities on their premises, inviting guests to contribute. All proceeds from these events were fully donated to Rumah Singgah Kanker Balikpapan. This series of events ran from early June to July 18, 2024.
The donations collected for the ACCI event in East Kalimantan are cash money, food, and clothing support for the foundation. These donations were directly handed over to the foundation’s management in the form of cash assistance, basic necessities packages, and support for each child. The contributions are intended to help meet the needs of children with cancer.
In addition to the donation handover, the ACCI event was enlivened by a Magic & Bubble Show by Cikobadut Samarinda. The Executive Chefs from the hotels under Archipelago International also participated by giving cooking demonstrations and interacting directly with the children from the foundation. The Executive Chefs collaborated to cook and also engage with the kids in making bento box creation, while the Food and Beverage team is also involved in making healthy juices for kids.
"Cancer Care Initiative reflects our dedication to supporting one another, showcasing our commitment as we expand this corporate social responsibility program in Kalimantan. We are deeply involved in the well-being of the communities around us and demonstrate our care for them," said John Flood, CEO of Archipelago International.
