ID HOTELIER - Jakarta, February 2023 - Archipelago International, Southeast Asia's largest privately owned hotel management group, kickstarted its annual Archipelago Food Festival (AFF) on 3 February at Alana Malioboro.
AFF is Archipelago’s signature year-long event where various hotels under the group’s 11 multi-awarded brands will hold functions that highlight food and beverage with different themes. The event is an opportunity for the public to partake in high quality and skilfully-prepared dishes. Chefs from different hotels collaborate under the supervision of Chef Denny Frederick, Corporate Executive Chef Archipelago Central -East, and Chef A.S Windoe, Corporate Executive Chef Archipelago West.
“Most people say that ‘the kitchen is the heart of the home’, it is the same for Archipelago. Food is a critical part of our hotels and we pay close attention and take pride in every dish that we serve to our guests. Indonesian food is one of the most vibrant and colorful cuisines in the world, full of intense flavor and spices. We hope we can spread the rich taste and variety of Indonesia’s gastronomy through this year’s Archipelago Food Festival,” said John Flood, President & CEO, Archipelago International.
Archipelago hotels as food destinations
This year, AFF will highlight Indonesian cuisine, which is widely recognized as one of the best in the world, with variations of its unique dishes spanning different regions and cultural influences. With more than 300 ethnic groups across the vast country, Indonesian cuisine is as diverse as its far-reaching landscapes, ranging from sweet and salty, to sour, spicy and slightly bitter. Out of 5,350 traditional Indonesian recipes, 30 are considered to be the most important, including the ever-popular nasi goreng, gado-gado, satay, and soto. These signature dishes have become so ubiquitous nationwide, they are now considered national dishes, not only favored by local residents but by visitors, too. Archipelago’s take on a traditional Indonesian dish is the best way to show pride and love for Indonesia.
AFF is also a venue to showcase the signature dishes in hotels’ menus and to promote Archipelago hotels as food destinations. Archipelago strives to provide the best culinary experience in each of its hotels.
Every hotel’s restaurants, bars and cafes showcase the expertise and creativity of the chefs and the rest of the F&B team. The group also hold a quarterly culinary promotion called TrEATs Everywhere promoting different cuisines.
