Indonesia is Ready to Hold the 2023 ASEAN Tourism Forum Series in Yogyakarta , As an effort to drive economic revival and create employment opportunities
ID HOTELIER - Jakarta, January 30th 2023 - Indonesia c.q. Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency has the honor to host the 2023 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Yogyakarta on February 2 - 5, 2023.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in a statement in Jakarta on Monday (30/1/2023), said that ATF is the largest annual tourism event in the ASEAN region.
The presence of ATF will become a forum for cooperation between ASEAN member countries to promote the ASEAN region as one of the tourism destinations.
“Yogyakarta was chosen as the venue for the 2023 ATF because it is one of the super priority destinations with the most-ready MICE infrastructure for holding international meeting events at the Ministerial level,” according to Minister Sandiaga.
The 2023 ATF will feature a series of agendas. Namely, a meeting of state delegations at the Ministerial and NTO (National Tourism Organization) levels and the Travel Exchange (TRAVEX), a business forum for tourism businesses between ASEAN countries.
There will be additional activities such as Minister’s Breakfast Meeting handled by US-ABC, Minister Business Luncheon by CBN, Lao Night as an event for the next leadership delegation to Laos, a post-meeting tour for VIP delegates, ASEAN Awarding Ceremony, and Global Modest Fashion Week.
Participants in the delegation meeting at the ATF are not only from the ASEAN countries but also from partner countries such as ASEAN Plus Three (Japan, Korea, China), India, Russia, and several international organizations such as UNWTO, PATA, WTTC, ASEANTA, and US-ABC.
The theme for this year’s ATF is “ASEAN: A Journey to Wonderful Destinations”. It represents the hope of the tourism sector in developing regional and international major tourism destinations, as well as strengthens the position of ASEAN as an accelerator for economic growth and job creation.
The 2023 ATF also marks the second time Yogyakarta has hosted this event after hosting it in 2002.
“The success of ATF will be the key to developing tourism in ASEAN countries in the future. It also becomes a strategic momentum for Indonesia to attract more foreign tourists to achieve the target of 7.4 million visits in 2023,” Minister Sandiaga said.
